The TTSPCA and the Animal Welfare Network (AWN) are located on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, while there is a separate branch of the TTSPCA on Tobago as well. Within Trinidad and Tobago, these organizations promote and offer spay/neuter clinics and services, advocacy/outreach and public education, and adoption. Together in recent years, they have worked in partnership with the government to design and introduce new animal welfare legislation, including anti-cruelty language.
The TTSPCA runs a shelter with well-defined policies including mandatory spay/neuter of all adoptable animals at the shelter, open door acceptance of all surrendered animals, humane euthanasia, and quality of life of those shelter animals in their care.
The Animal Welfare Network is a fully volunteer organization that focuses on spay/neuter of owned and stray animals, as well as adoption of homeless animals through a foster care home system. They promote responsible pet ownership and offer advice on emergency care and rescue of animals on the street.
