Following a destructive earthquake and aftershocks in Nepal, Humane Society International announced it will send livestock veterinarians to care for animals in heavily affected rural areas. HSI continued to conduct an assessment of the needs of local animal welfare organizations for expansion of their facilities and will meet these needs on a case-by-case basis.

The department of Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj withdrew an order to kill stray dogs. Humane Society International/India had issued a letter to the Principal Secretary asking for a clarification on the order, and urged the department to adopt World Health Organization’s suggested guidelines to control dog population in the state.

The Asia Canine Protection Alliance Launches “Ve Di Vang Oi! – Come Home Golden!” Campaign to Stop the Vietnamese Dog Meat Trade
The Asia Canine Protection Association launched the “Ve di Vang oi” campaign to promote compassion towards dogs and to call for an end in the theft, trade, slaughter and consumption of dogs in Vietnam. Humane Society International is part of ACPA.
