Catching Street Dogs Humanely

Humane Society International

HSI Humane Dog Population Management projects have typically employed nets to catch dogs in order to reduce stress on the animals and improve safety for the person catching them.

Now, in Jamshedpur, India (with funding from Jamshetji Tata Trust, Mumbai) and Bhutan, we have been replacing nets with (when possible) catching by hand.

HSI considers these two experiments a turning point for humane handling techniques and proof that it is possible to handle street dogs more gently.
