In the wake of a pre-Olympics street dog cull in Sochi, Russia, HSI helped coordinate the rescue and transport of some of the dogs to the United States.

HSI works around the world to humanely and efficiently control street dog populations—and our model is successful and proven. In summer 2013, we offered to help Sochi sterilize and vaccinate the city's street dogs ahead of the Olympics; although we never heard back directly, Sochi officials announced that no cull would take place. As the world learned, that pledge was broken.

Later, we helped coordinate the rescue of a few fortunate Sochi dogs to serve as ambassadors for the millions of others who also deserve the chance for a better life. Here, we share a video of two of them with their loving new families. Learn more about our innovative efforts to help street dogs worldwide.
