Cop Cycles to End Cruelty
Agent Angel Eduardo Torres of the Puerto Rico Police Department was burning mad when he heard about a dog that was recently lit on fire after being doused with gasoline and left to die because the man was angry with his wife. It was the straw that broke the camel's back for Agent Torres, who had recently attended the Humane Society International (HSI) Adoption & Shelter Care Workshop.

European Parliament Bans Cat and Dog Fur Imports
Describing the Asian trade in cat and dog fur "as a business fueled by cunning and cruelty," Wayne Pacelle, CEO of The Humane Society of the United States, today praised the European Parliament's unanimous vote to ban cat and dog fur from being imported or exported into Europe by December 31, 2008.
