Avian Influenza: Protecting Your Family and Your Pets
For a human H5N1 pandemic to occur, the avian influenza virus would need to mutate into a virus that is easily transmissible between humans. In its current state, the virus is almost exclusively a bird disease and it's extremely rare for it to pass from birds to humans and other mammals, although it has been documented in some cases.
