Czech Republic bans fur farming, saving 20,000 animals a year
HSI welcomed the news of the Czech Republic becoming the 14th country globally to completely ban fur farming, sparing around 20,000 foxes and minks every year who would otherwise spend their lives in cramped, barren cages and suffer painful deaths by gassing or electrocution.

Raccoon dog to be included on EU list of Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern
EU Member States have approved the inclusion of 12 additional animal and plant species on the list of Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern. This list includes the raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), a species that is exploited by the fur industry for its luxurious pelt and inappropriately marketed as an exotic pet species.
