    China’s animal groups join call to free polar bear at Guangzhou’s Grandview Mall as new video raises concerns about his mental decline

    In an open letter to the governor of Guangzhou, 50 Chinese animal groups urged him to take action to close an aquarium at the Grandview Shopping Mall exhibiting some 500 species, including a polar bear called Pizza. They also appealed to the commercial sectors to help stop China’s growing trend of displaying captive wild animals at shopping malls as a way to entice customers back from online shopping.

    72 Dogs rescued from slaughter in Central China

    HSI-supported China Animal Protection Power worked with other local groups to successfully rescue 72 dogs from a dog meat restaurant, a roadside slaughter operation and two other slaughterhouses in Henan Province in Central China--a supply center for the country’s three major dog meat markets.

    Humane Society International’s research and toxicology team joined more than 500 Chinese and international scientists at the 2nd International Conference on Toxicity Testing and Translational Toxicology to discuss advancements in 21st century alternatives to animal testing.

    Chinese cosmetic authority moves to adopt first contemporary animal testing alternative

    Humane Society International is praising a significant move by Chinese authorities away from an almost exclusively animal testing paradigm for cosmetics. The National Institutes for Food and Drug Control released a proposal for a new in vitro test standard for cosmetic ingredients as part of China’s ongoing efforts to align its regulatory frameworks with those of key international trading partners, providing technology supporting future trade in cosmetics, and further developing Chinese programs and infrastructures for non-animal test method development and validation.

    ヒューメイン・ソサイエティー・インターナショナル(Humane Society International, HSI)は、中国当局による、ほぼすべてを動物実験に頼った化粧品の試験体制からの移行に向けた重要な一歩を歓迎する。中国食品薬品検定研究院は、鍵となる国際的な取引のパートナーと規制の枠組みの足並みを揃え、将来の化粧品の貿易を支える技術を提供し、動物を用いない試験方法の開発と評価のための中国のプログラムやインフラのさらなる発展の一環として、化粧品の原料についてのインビトロ試験に関する新基準の提案を公表した。

    動物福祉の世界的リーダーであるヒューメイン・ソサイエティー・インターナショナル(Humane Society International, HSI)は、中国において動物を用いない現代的な技術を普及させることを目的に、化粧品の安全性試験に焦点を当てた教育プロジェクトにおいて協働するために、広州市華代生物科技有限公司(Guangzhou CHN-ALT Biotech Co. Ltd.)との了解覚書に署名した。
