HSI has sent a veterinary team to Haiti this week to offer emergency animal rescue and treatment following the devastation left by Hurricane Matthew. The team is bringing emergency veterinary medicines, vaccinations and other supplies to provide direct assistance to animals in need and reinforcement to local animal welfare groups on the ground.

Public officials and civil society representatives received training and technical assistance for the implementation of the new Law for the Protection and Wellbeing of Companion Animals in El Salvador. Humane Society International is organizing the workshop that will feature the organization’s experts, along with local Salvadorian authorities and representatives from Costa Rica, where a similar law has been recently implemented.
