HSI/Canada Celebrates Canadian Transportation Agency Decision Confirming Air Canada’s Right to Refuse Shipments of Primates for Research
HSI/Canada Animal Alliance of Canada and Justice for Animals welcomed a ruling by the Canadian Transportation Agency, confirming the right of Air Canada to refuse the live shipment of primates destined for laboratories, where they would be for toxicity testing, research or other harmful laboratory experiments.

HSl/Canada is renewing calls for Members of Parliament to support Bill C-380 to ban the import of shark fins into Canada in the wake of a CTV investigative report, which revealed 76 percent of samples from shark fins sold in Metro Vancouver originated from threatened species.

HSI/Canada Congratulates the City of Duncan for Unanimously Passing Shark Fin Ban
The City Council of Duncan unanimously decided to ban the sale of shark fins, which will come into effect on Jan.1, 2013. With Duncan, there are now 12 municipalities that have passed shark fin bans in 2012 alone, bringing the total number in Canada up to 16.
