HSI Europe: EU Should Protect Consumer Health and Lab Animals with Immediate End to Discredited Animal Tests for Shellfish Poisons
HSI Europe welcomed news that the EU’s Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health had voted to largely end lethal animal testing to detect shellfish toxins, but said the long phase-out period to replace the tests with more reliable non-animal methods was unnecessary and put consumer health at risk.
