Julie Janovsky is the vice president of farm animal welfare and protection at Humane Society International. Before joining HSI, she managed several campaigns at The Pew Charitable Trust, including ending illegal fishing around the world, protecting the Southern Ocean and reforming industrial animal agriculture. She has also worked on policy to address and prevent human trafficking. Earlier in her career, she served as an emergency responder after Hurricane Katrina, spearheaded a multi-agency rescue of farm animals during the 2008 Midwest floods, was a field researcher in Equatorial Guinea and promoted joint ventures on environmental protection in Russia.

Janovsky holds a master’s degree with a certificate in environmental science and bio-conservation. She and her pup, Jake, enjoy hiking, kayaking and swimming.
