COUNTRY DIRECTOR, LIBERIA
Morris Darbo leads HSI’s program development and its efforts to improve animal welfare in Liberia by establishing relationships with high-level stakeholders in the country. He is a member of the Rabies Technical Working Group of Liberia, as well as the Species Working Group. He also serves as an animal welfare focal point at the World Organisation for Animal Health for Liberia. Before joining HSI, he founded the Liberia Animal Welfare and Conservation Society.
Darbo believes education is key to changing attitudes and behaviors toward animals, and he previously worked as a teacher and social worker. During his time working in education, he established Animal Kindness Clubs in 10 schools and trained students to be animal ambassadors. His passion for animals began at a young age: His mother loved animals and he grew up with pet dogs, who are now his favorite animal.
