Canadian and European Parliamentarians Join HSI Canada in Calling for Withdrawal of Reckless WTO Challenge Against EU Seal Product Trade Ban
HSI Canada, joined by Canadian and European Parliamentarians called upon the Canadian government to withdraw its World Trade Organization challenge against the EU ban on seal product trade. The Parliamentarians urged the Canadian government to support Atlantic Canadian sealers and their families by implementing a federal buyout of the commercial sealing industry.

HSI Canada applauds the historic decision by the Toronto City Council to ban the possession, sale, trade and distribution of shark fins and their byproducts within the Toronto City limits. HSI Canada Commends European Parliament’s Stance Against the Seal Hunt During Canada-EU Free Trade Talks
At the Canada European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement negotiations, more than 100 Members of the European Parliament signed an open letter to the Canadian government stating that the European Parliament should not support CETA until Canada withdraws its WTO challenge against the EU seal product trade ban.
