New information on dog attack highlights that breed specific legislation is not the answer
HSI/Canada obtained a document that raised serious doubts about the breed identification of the dog involved in the June 2016 death of a Pointe-aux-Trembles woman. The document highlights the inherent flaw of breed specific dog regulations and the unreliability of visual breed identification.

Alberta's draft caribou protection plan criticized for protecting industrial development at the expense of wildlife
A diverse group of organizations across the country is calling on Canadians to urge the Alberta government to abandon a draft plan for the recovery of woodland caribou in North and Central Alberta. Part of the plan includes a fencing experiment that would enclose caribou within 100 square kilometers, and then slaughter many other species found on both sides of the fence.

HSI officially launched “No More Dogfighting” (No + Peleas de Perros), a campaign aimed at passing legislation to criminalize dogfighting at the federal level, encouraging people to place tips against dogfighters, and training law-enforcement authorities to effectively respond to reports of dogfighting in Mexico.
