Each year, millions of animals suffer and die to make frivolous trim on clothing and accessories, and those products are for sale in markets and on high streets across the UK, right now. Shockingly, we have found clothing with real fur trim labelled as faux fur, and real fur items for sale at less than the cost of fake fur equivalents. Don’t be lulled into thinking that it can't be real fur because that information is not stated on the label, or because it seems inexpensive.

    Humane Society International, along with the Fur Free Alliance, are pleased that the leading global fashion house Gucci has announced it will no longer use animal fur, beginning with its spring summer 2018 collection.

    Czech Republic bans fur farming, saving 20,000 animals a year

    HSI welcomed the news of the Czech Republic becoming the 14th country globally to completely ban fur farming, sparing around 20,000 foxes and minks every year who would otherwise spend their lives in cramped, barren cages and suffer painful deaths by gassing or electrocution.

    Raccoon dog to be included on EU list of Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern

    EU Member States have approved the inclusion of 12 additional animal and plant species on the list of Invasive Alien Species of Union Concern. This list includes the raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides), a species that is exploited by the fur industry for its luxurious pelt and inappropriately marketed as an exotic pet species.

    Yoox Net-A-Porter Group, the world’s leading online luxury fashion retailer, has today announced a new fur free policy which will exclude all items and accessories made from animal fur from all of its multi-brand online stores in line with its adherence to the international Fur Free Retailer Program. The fur free policy, follows a long-standing relationship with The Humane Society of the United States, Humane Society International and Lega Anti Vivisezione.
